What types of machines do you find most useful in your daily life.??
I find the computer, and the telephone most useful in my daily life. The computer, because it provides so much despite the fact that it is only one machine. You can surf the internet or get valuable information from it, both uses are beneficial. There are even calculators that can be accessed on the computer. You can write papers, play games and make art projects. The computer is becoming an essential part of daily life. It is becoming more and more needed and wanted. It does actually accomplish tasks that no other machine can do. The telephone is also very useful is daily life, because it is the main form of communication. You can talk to people miles away and act as if they are right there with you. The telephone can be used as a leisure purpose or to exchange valuable information. Either way information is exchanged. These two machines are the most useful in my opinion in my daily life.
What would your life be like without these machines.??
My life without the computer and telephone would be very dull. Also, I probably wouldn’t be able to complete certain school related tasks without the computer. An assignment could require the internet and other information. I believe my marks would definitely drop. However, I could use books to get certain information, but sometimes some information can only be found on the internet. Life without the telephone would definitely be very boring and I wouldn’t get information exchanged as quickly. One scenario, is that something happened in my family and I needed to tell the rest of my relatives, but they live several states away, information wouldn’t be received as quickly. I could write a letter, but by the time the rest of my family got the information, it would be to late. There is also the issue of telling the rest of my family. I could tell all of my family, but there would have to be a lot of letters. The absence of a telephone in general makes sending/ telling and receiving information much more complicated.
How has this machine changed the world.??
The computer has changed the world drastically. People can communicate with people all over the world or in their state with Myspace. They can type papers for work and school purposes. You can use Fireworks to create a poster or add if you are an aspiring entrepreneur. Or you can use Google or Wikipedia to get information for school or work purposes. Or you can just surf the internet. The telephone has also had an effect on the world. People can easily call a friend a family member that isn’t with them right now, or just lives too far away. Important information can be exchanged in minutes as opposed to days. You can connect to any one in the world as long as you they have a phone and you do too. Everyone is connected, and information travels faster, that is the effect the phone has had on the world.

The telephone was invented by inventor, Alexander Graham Bell in 1876. He was born in 1847, in Edinburgh, Scotland. His mother was nearly deaf and his father and grandfather were speech experts. This may have added to his early interest in sound and inventing the telephone. He also had other interests and had an understanding of science. He attended university in Edinburgh and in London. In 1870, he moved to the United States with his father and became the professor of vocal physiology at Boston university and he specialized in the mechanics of speech. He hoped his studies would help create an improved telegraph, so Bell began to study the phonoautograph. The device was a human ear connected with a reed, which translated sound waves into visual etchings on smoked glass. Bell had assumed that sound waves had already been produced using electricity and if he had known that he was doing something thought to be impossible, he might not have been successful in inventing the telephone. By 1875 in June, he had constructed a ” harp apparatus”, which created an electrical current using sound waves with a magnet. With a little modifications, this device became what we know as the telephone, today. When Bell set out, he was just setting out to help the deaf community, but ended up creating the telephone. The telephone is classified as a telecommunication device, and is used to receive and transmit sound, which the majority of the time is speech. Or in modern day, to communicate with other people. The task that the telephone accomplishes is to transmit and receive sound. i.e talking with other people. The telephone has had a very big effect on our world looking back. We can exchange pieces of information in seconds, this is the fastest way to connect with other people. The presence of the telephone has changed the world. This is the main effect that the telephone has had on our world. The spread of information and the ease of receiving it. The telephone has gone through some changes throughout the years. It’s history is also quite vast. However lots of other events contributed to the improvement of the telephone.
1874 Alexander Graham Bell discovers the principle of the telephone.
1877 Thomas Edison receives a patent in Britain for the “electro-motograph.” His carbon-based transmitter is still used in telephones today.
First permanent outdoor telephone wire strung.
Commercial telephone service begins in the United States.
1878 The workable exchange comes on line. It enables calls to be switched among any number of subscribers rather than requiring direct lines.
1879 Telephone subscribers began to be designated by numbers rather than names. This allows more subscribers per switching station
1880s Long distance service was established and grew using metallic circuits.
1888 The common battery system, developed by Hammond V. Hayes, permitted a central battery to supply all telephones on an exchange.
1891 The first automatic dial system was patented by a Kansas City undertaker. Switchboard operators were no longer necessary to make a telephone call.
1894 Oliver Lodge demonstrates wireless communication over a distance of 150 yards. This is the beginnings of cell phone technology.
1906 Dr. Lee De Forest, began work on applying what was known as an “audion,” a three element vacuum tube, which could amplify radio waves, to telephony.
1911 American Telephone and Telegraph (AT&T) took control of Western Union Telegraph Company. This is the beginning of “Ma Bell” which would be the largest telephone company in the US until the 1980’s.
1915 Bell System completes a U.S. transcontinental telephone line. Everyone in the US was connected to each other.
1918 Ten million Bell System telephones were in service.
Edwin H. Armstrong invents the superheterodyne receiver circuit. Calls became clearer and faster.
1921 Automatic switching of large numbers of calls was made possible using “phantom circuits,” which allowed three telephone conversations to be conducted on two pairs of wires. More people could use the same circuit so telephone companies did not have to build more switching stations.
1927 The “French” phone, with the transmitter and receiver in a single handset, developed by the Bell System was released on a widespread basis.
Harold Black develops the negative-feedback amplifier at Bell Laboratories. This made the telephone signal less distorted.
1927 Transatlantic service from New York to London became operational, transmitted by radio waves. Underwater cables were no longer necessary.
1946 First commercial mobile telephone service put into service in 1946, linking moving vehicles to the telephone network by radio.
1950 Time-division multiplexing is applied to telephony. People were now charged by the minute for their telephone calls.
1953 The laying of transatlantic telephone cables began. Calls could be made to European countries.
1958 All Number Calling (ANC) instituted to handle consumer demands for individual telephone numbers. A possible 9,999,999 numbers available.
1960s Videophones became more affordable and practical. People could now see who they were talking to.
1963 Bell System introduces the touch tone phone. This telephone made a different beep for each number instead of counted clicks for each number.
1964 The electronic telephone switching system is placed into service. Calls are switched faster than before.
1971 Intel Corporation develops the first single chip microprocesser, the 4004. The microprocessor would make telephones and switching systems smaller, lighter and faster to use.
1972 Motorola demonstrates the cellular telephone to the FCC. People could call each other without wires.
1980 Bell System FT3 fiber optic communication is developed.
1981 IBM PC is introduced. The Internet would use the telephone lines in the future to transmit information through a personal computer.
1989 “Pocket” cellular telephone is introduced by Motorola.

Barrack Obama
5 Things Barack and I agree about:
1. Barrack Obama wants to bring the troops home.
I think the exact same thing, because I don’t see the point of losing good people’s lives just to supposedly correct another country. We have no jurisdiction over another country. What that country does has nothing to do with us. Isn’t that why people immigrated to America in the first place? They wanted to get away from other people telling them what to do. I do not like the war and have lost relatives to wars. Our troops need to come home to be with their family, where they belong.
2. Barrack Obama believes that all students should have a chance for education.
I believe the same thing, because all students should have an education. They should not be discriminated against just because of the income of their parents or their race. All children need an education, because you need to have knowledge to get ahead in life, I believe. Everything in our society is centered on knowledge of certain things, basic knowledge and how much knowledge you actually have. If you don’t have knowledge then you can’t get very far and your choices are limited. If you have knowledge then you have various choices. Barrack believes that children should be open for education and I believe that in a way he is sort of looking out for them. They may not know what he’s doing now for them currently but in a few years when their lives are good then they will remember that it is all to education.
3. Barrack Obama believes that we should eliminate roadblocks for struggling families.
Barrack thinks and knows that children without a father figure are more likely to have a difficult life. I believe that a child reflects what goes on in the home. I was raised knowing this. If a child is being abused at home then they are likely to abuse people at school. Strong families build strong people. Barrack is trying to make America stronger in the future. I admire this, families matter a lot and families a that are missing a member or more need more support than ever.
4. Barrack Obama believes that the senior citizens should be taken care of.
Barrack thinks that the senior citizens should be taken care of and be honored and I agree 100%. The senior citzens need help when they get older (obviously). Sometimes their familes don’t like to look after them and they get sent to a ritirement home. Or in some situations the family can’t afford to support the senior citizen. The senior citizens I believe need to be honored, because they have gone through so much in their lives. This is true for all senior citizens. They have felt all emotions and have had troubles like all of us, but they have experienced it much longer. So i think that they should definitely be taken care of. They must have taken care of various people throughout their lives. So its time to return the favor.
5. Barrack Obama believes that the veterans should be honored.
I strongly agree with this issue, because I was raised in a veteran honoring environment, so to speak. Veterans risked their lives for us and they definitely need to be honored. I really respect all veterans and I think that they need to know that some americans actually do recognize them and respect them. In my opinion veterans aren’t truly honored when they return home. I think that when they are “honored” it only lasts for a day or so. They need to be honored constantly and they really do deserve it.
